Started discussion with reference to conversation with Ambassador Claude Bowers about disintegration of the Whig and Federalist parties. Drew comparison with present situation in Republican Party.
WEBB
Acheson is leaving for U. S. today. He has been at Big 3 meeting in Europe. French leadership is coming forward in a most gratifying manner - which peps up our position in Western Europe.
BARKLEY
Will vote on ..... FEPC today - but we do not have the 64 votes necessary to get cloture. We are faring badly on reorganization plans.
