THE PRESIDENT
Does not want to exempt anyone from service except in cases of key personnel whose removal from departments would injure operations. This applies to Reserve officers who might be embarrassed if called and exempted. The President asked Cabinet to provide names of Secty of Defense with instructions that these men not be called.
TREASURY
Sen George will try to begin hearings on taxes the first of next week.
JOHNSON
The 48 Congressmen and Senators on the military situation went off well with no criticism.
DONALDSON
Suggested curtailment of purchases of P. O. sites and freezing of construction of new Post Offices. Thinks he should go forward on new truck purchases due to depreciation of present fleet.
