ATTY GEN

The Circuit Court has sustained the Dept of Justice in the case of the 11 Communists convicted in Federal Court.

There is a determined drive in the Senate to pass the Mundt-Nixon bill.

THE PRESIDENT

Will not accept this bill in any form.

ATTY GEN

Has prepared a compromise bill seeking registration of any individual who is or has been a member of any organization which has been convicted of subversive activity which will be submitted for study to the President and Senator Lucas.

JOHNSON

Gen McArthur [MacArthur] still believes we will not be chased out of Korea.

BRANNAN

Commodity market seems to be stabilizing very well. Cotton - hogs - lard are down today in market.

SYMINGTON

Plans to offer a 100 million dollar bill in Congress tomorrow for stockpiling. On Civil Defense question - all thru country there has been a consistent effort to smear program. Is sticking to plan to present complete program in Sept and not before.

General discussion of policy to be set with respect to political speeches by Cabinet members.
