It is difficult to get top men at personal sacrifice. Agrees with principle but we must face practically the job we have to do.

Made brief report on activities of Big 3 meeting in New York (Acheson, Bevin & Schumann).
The problem to be worked out is the use of Germans in the defense of Western Europe.

Congress has done a good job on Tax Bill. We now have a bill which will produce additional revenue.

Is against the use of dollar a year men.

Wherry amendment which stopped exports to Soviet - satellites was defeated in House yesterday. Will come up in Senate and believes it will be accepted in Senate.
