ACHESON
During past week have been working with U. N. on China situation. It is doubtful if we can get enough votes to declare sanctions against China.
Peace Treaty with Japan negotiations are proceeding satisfactorily although the situation is still a confused one. Far Eastern nations such as India have reservations on the matter of cutting Japan loose.
European reaction to Eisenhower has been gratifying.
MARSHALL
Manpower hearing on Hill is meeting same resistance as induction of 18 year old boys.
CHAPMAN
Is going to cut down on octane ratio of gasoline in an order to go out today.
