Tobin - absent
Sawyer - absent

ATTY GEN

Made presentation of chair to former Secty of Defense Louis Johnson.

GEN BRADLEY

Briefed Cabinet on Korea.

ACHESON

Major activities this week have been in connection with problem of re-arming Germany.

The resolution which is a moderate one and which calls on China to withdraw from Korea - It provides for a committee to survey the aggression by the Chinese in Korea.

The British are still dragging their feet and in fact are creating a dangerous situation by their delaying tactics. If the British should vote against the resolution it would put the U. S. in bad spot. It requires 2/3rds vote in General Assembly to have the resolution in its present form adopted. The British opposition is the one paragraph which is challenged by them as a decision which might bring military or other action against China proper. It appears however that the British are going a long way with Nehru (India) who is following an appeaser role.

THE PRESIDENT

Directed State to proceed with resolution as drafted and despite British opposition.

ATTY GEN

WILSON
