THE PRESIDENT
Asked and got approval for change of meetings to 11:00 AM on Mondays and Fridays from now on.
Informed the Cabinet that we must take initiative to offset the current campaign to discredit the President and the administration. Plans to form a strategy committee to implement this drive.
MARSHALL
Asked if a research group is to be formed to provide speakers with material for speeches.
THE PRESIDENT
That is to be part of the program.
PERLMAN
Urged the creation of a Policy Board to meet one night a week to further this program. The group should include a man from House and from Senate.
P.M.G.
Has worked out agreement with U. N. to have own stamps and own postmark on all mail emanating from the U. N. Headquarters.
SAWYER
Will be happy to have man on the political policy committee. Thinks that this group should undertake to do something to get Congressional investigations back on the track of facts - not headlines.
BRANNAN
Agrees that we should get people out to answer the attacks by Congress and press on administration. Farmers are attending meetings in larger numbers now than since 1932.
TOBIN
Truckers in New York should have a peace pact for next 5 years. Signed an agreement today. This has been a trouble spot for a long time.
WILS0N
Will have 7½ million more tons of steel in 1st quarter of 1951 than in 1950. This shows what can be done.
SAWYER
Unemployment down to 2,700,000 - lowest since 1935.
