Communists in Korean negotiations are following the usual pattern of being adamant on all points - Ridgeway [Ridgway] is meeting them head on which is the only way to handle the situation.
Japanese Peace treaty is ready for signature Sept 3rd at San Francisco. Philippines and Malaya are griping about reparations. Want ridiculous amount from Japan which they will not get.

Congress is threatening to cut P.O. appropriation which if effected will eliminate rural deliveries.
BRANNAN
Have the best spring wheat crop since 1925. Present trend indicates surplus of beef and hogs is coming up. The problem is the supply of corn to feed the expanding numbers of cattle and hogs.
TOBIN
Just returned from Europe. Finds that entire world is worried that U. S. will not have a stabilization program. The economies of all countries will be jeopardized if U. S. does not curb inflation.
