Briefed Cabinet on Korea.

VICE PRESIDENT

House is in recess. Senate is going to vote on Voice of America bill today. Attempt will be made to increase appropriation to 85 million which is the House figure.

THE PRESIDENT

Had Senator Russell Chairman of Armed Svcs Committee in today. Explained to him danger of playing into Russian hands if adequate funds are not available. It might well encourage a 3rd World War.

ACHESON

Discussions in Iran have been suspended. Basic difficulty is with Iranians although the British have been somewhat foolish also.

Poland Russia and Czechoslovakia have accepted invitations to Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco. This provides three Communist blocks. Philippines have come around so that objection to Jap Treaty is resolved.

LOVETT

There is a revolutionary process taking place in the type of weapons which will go to drawing boards. This is due to new inventions and research and development advances. These will make obsolete present weapons.

MCGRATH

Urged Cabinet to get behind USO drive to provide funds for Service people.
