Briefed Cabinet on Korea.

Conferees finished tax bill yesterday. Will be taken up in House Tuesday. It is 5 million short of administration requested.

ACHESON

Senate Foreign Relations Committee finished hearings yesterday on Foreign Aid Bill. It is in good shape.

Iran is still in a mess. Mossadegh the Prime Minister is now in New York to appear before Security Council of the U. N.

Egypt is now at odds with Britain and have threatened to abrogate its treaties with Britain.

Iraq has also threatened to do likewise.

SNYDER

Treasury is in comparatively good shape. Sees no market problems between now and January.

LOVETT

We are having serious strike trouble in vital defense plants. This will adversely affect our production figures.

DONALDSON

Congress wants to raise 1st class mail from 3 to 4 cents - while in other classes they are not making any change even though these classes of mail are now operating at a loss. On circular mail it now costs 3¢ to handle and we collect 1¢.

CHAPMAN

General contractors in Alaska are threatening to break their contract with electrical workers union. If this happens it will foment serious labor problems in Alaska.
