BRUCE
1st meeting of Pacific Council will be held in Honolulu in August.
SNYDER
Treasury appropriation got thru OK.
LOVETT
Defense appropriation was cut badly yesterday. However the Public Works phase was the target of the big cut. Can go back for supplementals if Defense Program gets in a jam. Cut was from 71 billion to 52 billion. Steel strike is crippling the Defense Program. Even with emergency production the requirements are not being met.
MCGRANNERY
Appropriation for Justice came thru pretty well only cut was in Border Patrol which will make it tough to control wet backs coming into Texas from Mexico.
PMG
House cut P. O. appropriation by about 28 millions. Ferguson of Michigan asked for cut of 45 million in Senate. If this latter cut goes thru it will cut postal service and deliveries.
CHAPMAN
Got thru 2 million dollars for Salt Water Distillation Bill which is a great step forward in solving our irrigation problem.
PRESIDENT
Complimented Secty of Agriculture on letter he wrote to Sen Aiken taking him apart on charges against the Dept. of Agriculture.
BRANNAN
We are coming up with big wheat crop and also the best quality in our history. Corn crop is also in good shape.
