Vice President - Absent
Sawyer - Absent

ACHESON

Going to Paris next week for NATO Council meeting. Does not think much will be accomplished while NATO program is falling apart.

SNYDER

Have finished all financing which will have to be done by this administration. Finances are in good shape. Internal Revenue re-organization has now been accomplished.

LOVETT

Eisenhower is on his way to Korea by ship. Security on his trip has been well maintained by press - radio and television. Has had briefing with Chas Wilson (GM) his successor as Secty of Defense. Think Wilson is hard worker but was startled by scope of Defense Program. Situation in Indo-China is very serious from our point of view.

Korea—Chinese are entrenched in mountains - have tunneled through and planted guns in mountains which are very difficult to knock out. Commies now have jet bombers which can only be knocked out by bombing above the Yalu River. If we do that it might be World War III.

ATTY GEN

Said New York Grand Jury presentment on Disloyalty of U. N. employees is a tempest in a teapot.
