Opened the last meeting of Cabinet.
ACHESON
Loy (?) Henderson had talk with Mossadegh on Iranian oil - but it is still touch and go. Hopes we can reach settlement between Iran and Britain.
LOVETT
Atomic Arms Program has reached a point where we can divert more atomic energy to peaceful uses such as power plants, etc., for ordinary industrial production. This is a boon to not only the U. S. but also to the underdeveloped areas of the world. The possibilities of civilian use are unbelievable. This has been accomplished by the Truman Administration.
ATTY GEN
Justice has conferred with atty for oil companies this week in connection with Oil Cartel Case now pending before Federal Grand Jury.
FOWLER
Mobilization program is now a reality but there has been no effort by the incoming administration to assure continuity of the program.
