My dearest Nan:--

I am going to make another effort to hear from you on the first day of the New Year. My mind is filled with thoughts of the past & you come in for your full share, how many, many times I have thought of you & wondered if you were married or what had happened that I can never receive any answer to letters and time I come to the conclusion that Nan no longer cares for her old friends sure it makes very sad for I have not so many friends that I can afford to part with any especially one so dear. I tell you this New Year makes me sad for it tells me that on Tuesday next, I will be that terrible 30, I am beginning to feel as ancient as Methuslah. Are you married yet? I except that is what is the matter, you have a kid or two & haven't time to think of anybody. Lute was over and spent Thanksgiving with me at my boarding place. I enjoyed her visit immensely, but don't believe she did. I teaching away have 48 kids & 12 more to start tomorrow, maybe you think I don't have hands full, wish you would come & be assistant, had vacation last week, enjoyed it too. Santa brought me several little gifts, but Xmas was very quiet. I have been at home today putting in the day writing, some of the kids had given me their Albums to write in. Isn't this delightful weather? I tell you I enjoy it, hope it will continue. I will wish you a "Happy New Year," although you, don't deserve it. I do wish I could see you. I would rather see you than anyone. I know I would talk you to death, but I am not going to write very much for fear you won't get it, or won't answer or something if you answer this I will write you a long letter right away, Now Nan, if you get this please write for I want to hear from you so much, you know I do or I wouldn't keep writing, I am with much love to you & Miss Lida.

Your loving friend
