Description

Former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt (standing at podium) speaking at the dedication of the home of the late President Franklin D. Roosevelt as a national shrine. Seated behind her are, from left to right: Marian Anderson, Reverend George Anthony, National Park Service Director Newton B. Drury, Major General Harry Vaughan, Clark Clifford, Secretary of the Interior Julius Krug, and Admiral William D. Leahy. Standing behind Clark Clifford, next to the pillar is Franklin D. Roosevelt, Junior. Former President Roosevelt's Scottish Terrier dog Fala is sitting on the ground next to Mrs. Roosevelt's empty chair, his leash tied to the chair.
