This assignment will provide the students with a “hands on” experience by making a poster and a campaign button in support of his/her favorite candidate

Students will analyze American propaganda posters from World War I.

Students will receive three or four letters written by Truman to Bess Wallace and analyze them

Students will choose a presidential candidate and construct a campaign poster and a lapel campaign button in support of that candidate.

Allow students an opportunity to go back to America's WWII Home Front to examine various morale boosters in general ( radio, movies, etc. ), but particularly Major League Baseball.

Students will use a variety of sources to focus in on Britain's decision to withdraw from the Mediterranean.

Students will learn about exodusters coming to Kansas during the reconstruction period.

Students will analyze results of the 1950 congressional elections to determine how/why the Democrats lost enough seats to cause President Truman to lose a working majority in Congress.
