Shown here with the Secretary are Vice Admiral Charles T. Joy and Mrs. Charles T. Joy. Dates of the Far East trip were November 12-30, 1950.

Those in view are on the terrace of the Officers Club at Guantanamo Base, Cuba. Portrex was a joint armed forces operation in the Caribbean area. Standing second to the left of Secretary Matthews is General Mark Clark.
