Secretary of State Dean Acheson makes his long-awaited appearance before the Senate MacArthur investigation to face the challenge of hostile Republicans to disclose a "hotter than a firecracker" State Department on Formosa.

Secretary of State Dean Acheson leaves the White House today after attending a conference between President Truman and Congressional leaders at which the President asked for a $18,200,000,000 program to expand the armed services and boost atomic weapons productions.
