President Harry S. Truman calls for action on high prices and housing. Truman told a truculent Congress today that he wants immediate action on high prices and the housing shortage. Before a joint session of Congress, which gave him scant applause and amid threats of a speedy adjournment, the President delivered in person a tough, 24 minute message to the Congress he has termed "one of the worst" in the Nation's history. Truman Signs the Fair Labor Standards Act Amendments

President Harry S. Truman signs the Fair Labor Standards Act, raising minimum wages to seventy-five cents an hour, with labor and government officials on hand for the ceremony in the White House.
