The map is annotated, in red pencil and black ink, to show the positions, headquarters, and movement of the 5th Division of the Australian Imperial Force during the German Spring Offensive. There is a drawn line indicating troop movement from Montonvillers through Poulainville, Bussy-les-Daours, Daours, la Neuville, and Corbie to Sailly-le-Sec. A second line from Domart sur la Luce through Villers-Bretonneux, Hamel, Sailly-Laurette, and Morlancourt indicates either troop movement or the front line.

Many other areas in France and Germany are also circled, including markings south of Nancy.
