Dan Cavanaugh Remembers His Korean War Experience by Describing His Photographs

Korean War veteran Dan Cavanaugh records his memories of the Korean War by reviewing his photographs. This recording was made in response to an inquiry by historian Charles Spurlin of Victoria College in Victoria, TX. This tape reviews photos numbered 1 through 42. This is the first of five tapes that Cavanaugh sent to Spurlin. Spurlin, in turn, donated his materials to the Center for the Study of the Korean War.

John Vollnogle Remembers his Korean War Experience

In a recorded letter to Charles Spurlin, Korean War veteran John Vollnogle reviews his experience in the Korean War while reviewing a set of slides he was planning to also send to Spurlin. At the time of the recording, Vollnogle lived in Indianapolis, Indiana. Charles Spurlin was a historian at Victoria College in Victoria, Texas, who was gathering material for a book. Spurlin, in turn, donated the materials to the Center for the Study of the Korean War.

Interview with Paul Edwards On the Status of the Cease Fire in Korea

After President George W. Bush expressed desire for a formal peace in Korea at an APEC Summit in Australia, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation journalist Carol Off interviewed Dr. Paul Edwards about the status of the cease fire in Korea for the program "As it Happens." Edwards is the director of the Center for the Study of the Korean War. 

Radio Story About the Opening of the Center for the Study of the Korean War

Eloise Bell of member station KXCV reports on the newly opened Center for the Study of the Korean War. Located in Independence, MO, on the campus of Graceland University, it opens on the 50th Anniversary of North Korean troops crossing the 38th Parallel into South Korea, beginning the Korean War. Includes interviews with Center for the Study of the Korean War staff member Paul M. Edwards, Korean War veteran David Carmichael, and the Harry S. Truman Library's education staff member Tom Heuertz.
