Map of the 134th Infantry

A map titled "Combat Route, 134 Inf. E.T.O.: All Hell Can't Stop Us." The hand-drawn map follows the movement of the 134th Infantry through multiple combat missions from July 3, 1944 to November 8, 1945. The map also includes information on the Armies, Corps, and Divisions involved, as well as the number of casualties, prisoners of war, combat miles, and number of days in combat. Donated by James A. Huston.

Map of the Landing at Adak Island

A grid map detailing the landing at Adak Island in the Aleutian Islands on August 30, 1942. The map is annotated in different colors to show the positions and movement of Clarence Stewart's 2nd Battalion of the 134th Infantry (35th Division) and the 53rd Infantry of the 7th Division. A note on the back reads: "Photo map used by 2 Bn 134 Inf. for initial landing on Adak Island, Alaska, 30 Aug 42, Col. Stewart." Donated by Clarence J. Stewart.

Map of Tanaga Island

A map of Tanaga Island in the Aleutian Islands where the United States Navy had an emergency landing field during World War II. Handwriting on the back reads: "Tanaga Is. was to have been the landing place originally. Navy wouldn't land there so Adak was chosen as a compromise. C.S." Donated by Clarence J. Stewart.

Map of the First Session of the United Nations

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, March 11, 1946." The map of New York and Connecticut highlights, in white, the general area under consideration for the United Nations Organization's permanent home. White Plains, New York, Stamford, Connecticut, and Hunter College in New York City are also marked on this map. The map of southeast Europe, east Africa, and south Asia shows, in white, areas discussed at the first Security Council meeting. The areas highlighted are Iran, Greece, the Netherlands East Indies, Syria, and Lebanon.

The map of Iran shows railroads, deserts, oil refineries, international boundaries, and other locations of importance. Printed text, titled "Iran: Rich Land, Poor Land," describes the history of Iran, its demographics, its oil reserves, and the United Nations Organization's effort to set up direct bilateral talks between Iran and the Soviet Union over a native uprising in Azerbaijan.

Map of the Demobilization Program

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, September 24, 1945." The newsmap has low detail maps of Japan, Korea, the United States, Germany, and Austria. Printed text, accompanied by photographs, describes the estimated discharge rate of Army forces from September 1945 to June 1946, the objectives and rules for the Demobilization Program, and the estimated Army distribution as of July 1, 1946. Printed drawings on the back show the shoulder insignia of United States Army combat divisions.

Map of Okinawa

An American map titled "Newsmap for the Armed Forces: Monday, June 4, 1945." The map of Okinawa shows railroads, roads, rivers, relief, airfields, airstrips, and the battle line as of May 28, 1945. Printed text on this map describes the flanking of Shuri by the Seventh Infantry Division. The map of the Pacific theater shows international boundaries, describes the Chinese capture of Nanning, and locates, in red, the areas covered on the other four maps.
