Description

Home movies shot by Lieutenant Daniel Karp during his service in the Air Force in the Korean War. Karp was mainly stationed in Japan. This film shows the activities of the 483rd Troop Carrier Wing, 314 Troop Carrier Group M, stationed out of Ashiya, Japan. It is dedicated to the men who gave their lives flying the Korean Airlift. Footage shows a briefing followed by airmen readying their planes and taking off. Also shows aerial shots of planes in flight and interiors of planes while in flight. Soldiers lined up to parachute out of the plane. Welcoming ceremony on tarmac for an unidentified dignitary. Parachute demonstrations viewed from the ground. Aerial views over mountains and preparations for parachuting.
