Disc composed of three separate segments; furnished by the National Archives 11/0/07 NARA #080053 (purchased by Tom Heurtz of the White House Decision Center at the Harry S. Truman Library).
Section one: Silent color film of the Trinity Test at Alamogordo, White Sands Proving Ground, New Mexico, July 1945. Includes delivery and setup of the "gadget" bomb and actual denotation of the atomic bomb from two locations. Approximately 12 minutes. Still pictures local identifier 77.11.
Section two: President Harry S. Truman making the announcement of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Black and white film – approximately 6 minutes. Still pictures local identifier 111-ADC-9865.
Section three: “Two Down and One to Go.” Promo of General George C. Marshall speaking after VE Day about the defeat of two Axis powers and the concentration of power to defeat Japan. Excellent battle footage. Produced by the Office of War Information, War Department. All black and white. Approximately 8 minutes. Still pictures local identifier 111-EF-1.
