USS WISCONSIN Tells the history of this battleship. While the signing of the peace surrender was on the USS Missouri, the USS Wisconsin was honored with never having been hit during WWII, contributing to the victory. After being retired, the US S Wisconsin is again put back into action during the Korean War for troop support. VHS tape.

As a salute to the retiring ship, Hugh Downs looks at the history of the USS Missouri, from its role in the Japanese surrender in WWII to the Persian Gulf War. Also shown is Margaret Truman christening the ship in 1944, the signing of the surrender and two stories of people whose lives were affected by the ship. This is a rough screen of the show, provided by ABC News. VHS tape.

AMERICAN PRESIDENTS: THE MOST POWERFUL MAN ON EARTH 1996. Presented and narrated by Walter Cronkite, in collaboration with the National Archives (NARA), and the Presidential Libraries. Cronkite walks through the evolution of the Presidency from Hoover to Bush and how the office has changed, or not changed. He talks about Truman's Fair Deal program and his desegregation of the Armed Forces. Also discussed in detail, is the Cold War waged by Roosevelt through Bush: from the first atomic bomb to the democratization of Eastern Europe. Used is a combination of newsreels, archival footage and photographs from NARA, and commentary from leading scholars. VHS tape. Also included an interactive CD-rom packet.
